Are you planning a road-trip getaway for your spring break weekend? Road trips are fun for a lot of reasons, but once the initial excitement of being on the open road wears off, it’s time to turn up the tunes. If you’re the type of person that likes to prepare a playlist ahead of time instead of playing random-city-radio-shuffle, then here are ten awesome road trip songs that’ll really put you in vacation mode.

10 Perfect Road-Trip Songs

1.     “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. There’s nothing like this guitar intro to get you into the mood for a long car trip. You can’t help but drum your fingers and sing along with this one.

2.    “Rock Star” by Nickelback. This song is oddly addictive. Between the (mostly) relatable lyrics and the strong beat, this song can get you in the mood to treat yourself very quickly. I mean, who doesn’t want a new tour bus full of old guitars? Who doesn’t want to be a rockstar?

3.    “Hotel California” by The Eagles. This whole song is about hedonism and self-destruction, or basically having an MTV-style spring break week. If you’re planning to do everything in excess during your spring break weekend, this is a perfect song to get you in the mood.

4.    “I Wanna Be Sedated” by The Ramones. The song’s lyrics are great, but what really makes this song is the fun beat. Turn this one all the way up in the car and sing along to these simple lyrics to your voice is raw.

5.    “Little Red Corvette” by Prince. You can’t have a travel playlist without this funk song. Prince’s Little Red Corvette is the perfect song to get you in the mood for some naughty fun.

6.    “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson Ft. Bruno Mars. Really, this song should be on any and every playlist you make, but also it earns a spot on your travel playlist because it’s just fun. Who can resist Bruno Mars’ charm? Plus, it has that funk feel and pairs perfectly with Prince.

7.    “All About the Bass” by Meghan Trainor. If you need a song to get you geared up and ready to lay out on the beach, this Meghan Trainor song is perfect. Even if you are a size two, you can still enjoy this body-positive tune.

8.    “Hello” by Adele. You always need one song full of emotions that you can belt out. This song is the one. Adele has super relatable lyrics and a powerful voice to deliver them, too.

9.    “Route 66” by Chuck Berry. Especially if you’re traveling Route 66, you have to include this 1961 hit on your playlist. Route 66 is known as the Main Street of America, and it links Chicago to Los Angeles. The song, however, is fun, twangy, and upbeat. Get your kicks on route 66.

10. “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts. The original song is by Tom Cochrane, but I’m partial to the Rascal Flatts cover. The Rascal Flatts cover has a bit more bounce for me and is a lot more fun to sing along to.

The right playlist can really set you in the mood for your spring break, so make sure you include a lot of fun songs to get you ready for a week of mindless fun and festivities.
